The Pedra da Gávea is the largest monolithic block by the sea in the world, with more than 800 m high. Has one of the best panoramic views of the main points of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The trip to the top is in great part with the shadows of the trees. And with the need in certain spots to make a slight climb.
Are two paths to the top, the P4 (peak of the four), passing by the incredible famous “Throat of the sky” (featured picture). And the “Carrasqueira”, the much-feared rocky shore.
Average time of climb: 2 hours and a half
Level: Hard with gaps
Meeting point: Praça Desembargador Araújo Jorge, Largo da Barrinha-Barra da Tijuca
What time? 8:30
Tips: don’t forget your sunscreen, insect repellent, enough water, your lunch and camera to record this amazing ride. Use light clothes and comfortable shoes for walking.
